| Option: Headrest Zipper |
Allows either (or both) ponchos to be used on a wheelchair that has a headrest. | Zips from two directions, tightening up around the headrest stem keeping out wind and water. Many children and adults with multiple disabilities have headrests on their wheelchairs as well as belts to hold them in. The belts make the process of putting on a jacket very difficult and the headrest means that they can't use a regular poncho.
| Option: Holes to Accomodate Ventilator |
Poncho can protect delicate ventilator machines without laying on top of cascade and hoses. | In order for a traditional rain poncho to work for someone with a ventilator, it would need to completely cover the hoses and humidifying cascade that are mechanically integral to the assistive breathing system, but physically peripheral to the actual air compressor. This can put undo strain on critical life-support equipment. Also, since some of these parts extend as high as the person's head, this can give the impression that the person is carrying a house behind them on their wheelchair. Epiphany Design's ventilator template can be individually positioned on the poncho so this peripheral gear can poke up through holes and still keep vital machinery dry.
| Option: Reflective tape. |
Greater visibility. | Epiphany Design realizes that active, independent people want/need to be out at night as well as in the day.
| Free Option: Tie-Downs on nylon shell poncho. |
Keeps wind from blowing front of poncho up in front of the face. | Two grommets at the bottom of the extended front can be attached behind the ankles or to the chair with two small bungy cords that come with the poncho when this option is ordered. Bottom of the extended front of the nylon poncho can be attached.
| Two separate ponchos that can be used separately or joined
together to make one waterproof, fleece-lined poncho. |
Wearer can use in many weather scenarios. | A warm, waterproof garment is major blessing on the really nasty cold, rainy days. But sometimes, it is not required. This garment allows the wearer more opportunity through the year to use his investment and have it when it is really needed.
| Tall, stand-up collar on fleece poncho only. |
Protection, if needed, from the cool weather when the inner fleece liner is used on it's own. Works well in conjunction with hood of outer nylon shell. |
This garment was designed in keeping with Epiphany Design's focus on functionality, specifically warmth. Working on the premise that two hoods would be too bulky when used together, the fleece poncho liner for the "3-in-1 Sleeveless Poncho" was designed with the same high collar found on our "High-collared Shawl". This feature makes the wide range of benefits possible. In extreme weather, the hood of the outer nylon poncho can easily be pulled up over the standing fleece collar which is designed to poke up through the nylon poncho's neck hole.
